Johnson’s Grocery has been a family owned and operated business since 1949.The store has become an iconic Christchurch landmark allowing people to step back in time to a place of old fashioned service, shelves stacked high to the ceiling, a myriad of goods to tempt all taste buds and the sights and smells of a original grocery store.

The business was originally located at 787 Colombo St in a store originally opened in 1911.

Colin Johnson, the current owner and operator, plans to rebuild on the original site. In the meantime, Colin is excited to be able to help get the people of Christchurch back into the central city again and looks forward to seeing his many customers again since February.

For many years Johnson's has sold a wide range of imported goods from different countries all around the world. The new store’s range will be even more extensive than ever including: Scottish Haggis, Snails, Turkish Halva, French Foie Gras, Twiglets, French Chestnuts, Jaffa, Cakes, French Duck Confit, American Grape Nuts, Walnut Whips, Birds Custard, Yorkshire Tea, Anchovy Sauce, Quality Street Sweets, Italian Nougat, English Shredded Wheat, Maraschino Cherries, Gentleman's Relish, French Mustard Crocks, English Fruit Mincemeat, Cranberry Sauce with Port, Maynard Wine Gums, English Stilton Cheese Crocks.
